2019 Summer Activities

Summer 2019 Discoveries included many trips to the Library for interactive performances by local artists, such as Polynesian dancers, Bagpipe playing, Ukelele practice, Balloon artistry in the Wacky Alien Talent Show, Step/Hip Hop/and Celtic Dance performance and animal magic show. There were also great incentives where children took home brand new books for reading 10-20 hours every two weeks, over summer, while in our program as well as strengthening the home school connection by reading at home. Three kids won raffles and were able to choose from some great prizes, one even received a Grand Prize. We also received numerous food coupons that we will be able to enjoy over the next few months where kids meals were provided for participating in the Summer Reading Programs, so we can continue some group outings through October, 2019. We went to a Farmers Market and had a Pizza Party and attended Chuck E Cheese for Pizza and gaming and have Lazer Tag planned for September for the older kids. We also attended OC Fair, learned about the History of California and made adobe bricks at Rancho Dominguez Heritage Center, and attended the Whittier Bailey House. We had park and water trips and fun cultural food and dress up Days and Toddler Story Time weekly at the Library.
