Brighter Beginnings in Child Care is proud to report that in 2018 we will be receiving more Program Enhancement dollars/awards from the Child Care Alliance and LACOE for quality improvements since 2016. We had the flexibility to purchase $2,000.000 of additional materials in 2018 and supplies from the pilot scores received back in 2016. Because of this, we have purchased the reading cube, block area supplies, storage units, different types of blocks for all age groups, a quiet cube, dolls, multicultural materials, teaching materials and resources, consumables, a play store, cash register, dress up center and clothing, a child sized kitchen with multicultural foods, a water table, trikes, push cars, and a police car. In addition, program staff have been offered monetary compensation to continue in college coursework in the Early Childhood field. Totals to date have been in excess of over 6,000.00 since Brighter Beginnings in Child Care signed on for coaching and supports. The next $2,000.00 in materials was used to purchase STEAM (Science, technology, Engineering, Arts and Math materials), music materials, Big Books, a music/listening center with headphones, a CD player, Early Childhood CD favorites, educational materials and additional incentives for staff to attend school through June of this year. UCLA students re-evaluated the program after all these great items were in place and additional funding and supports were extend into 2018-2019. We moved up from a level three to a four. They evaluate the environment, interactions, materials, supplies, indoor outdoor areas, and evaluate the materials in the program along with the teaching strategies, curriculum and interactions using the CLASS Rating Scale, and the Family Child Care Rating System FCCERS. QSLA staff review files to ensure assessments and screening are in place and that all children under five have assessments and screenings completed, timely and that there are learning goals in place for every individual child enrolled. We continue to improve the quality of services provided to children and are using these great items and moneys to improve the educational goals of both the children and staff! Thank you QSLA!!!!! Your partnership has allowed us to purchase some really great things.
